ALVIN AILEY DANCE FOUNDATION

Senior Director of Marketing & Creative Content
2008-2021

My responsibilities included brand management, creative direction, audience development, and multi-channel marketing for the wide-reaching Ailey organization. In addition to overseeing the sale of hundreds of thousands of tickets each year to Ailey’s self-produced seasons, as well as extensive U.S. and international tours by both the main Ailey company and Ailey II, I also supervised marketing for The Ailey School and Ailey Arts In Education programs. I spearheaded several multi-year, cross-organizational projects for the organization, including Ailey’s “Leading For The Future" initiative, funded by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, which developed ways to use technology more effectively to engage with patrons, and its "Building Audiences for Sustainability” initiative, funded by The Wallace Foundation, which identified new strategies to attract and retain millennial ticket buyers for Ailey’s New York performances. In 2013, I added the development and production of creative content. Activities in this area included: the popular "Ailey All Access" programming which began with the pandemic shutdown of live performances in March 2020 Ailey's first-ever performance film in the inaugural "Lincoln Center at the Movies" series a documentary about the Company on tour in South Africa a major relaunch of Ailey's website and a popular series of short dance videos watched by tens of millions online. My responsibilities included brand management, creative direction, audience development, and multi-channel marketing for the wide-reaching Ailey organization.
